A couple of months ago, I decided to invest in my business and take this intensive workshop offered by some of the best florists in my area that I envy! When I first started out with my floral journey, I would scroll through Instagram and be envious of all the beautiful arrangements. I never thought in a million years that I would be able to MEET these amazing florists!
The workshop is a 9 day, 3 weeks course. This past week was our first week. The days leading up to my workshop, I was filled with excitement and nerves. I was excited to play with flowers and meet all these new floral friends but at the same time I was so nervous. I was worried that my creative juice would not be flowing, I was worried that I wouldn't be able to execute my work. My mind was going at 100mph thinking about the workshop. The morning of my workshop, I woke up before my alarm even went off. I was THAT excited. As I was driving to my workshop, I did not know what to expect.
The moment I walked into the cute garage-turned-studio of Blossom + Vine, the first thing I noticed was the numerous buckets of flowers lined up on the side of the studio. It was like a kid in a candy store moment for me. I settle down, got my name tag, and was just soaking in everything. Reminding myself here and there that this is reality and not a dream. It was cold and chilly that morning but I felt nothing but warmth from everyone that was so welcoming and all the excitement in everyone's eyes.
We did a quick intro and dived right into floral designing! Sofie quickly showed us how she would normally prep the flowers and we all processed a bunch of flowers together. We spent the rest of the day chatting about florals, listening to music, and letting our creativity take over and whipped up some beautiful arrangements! It was one of the most rewarding experience ever. To be able to learn from the best, and to receive good positive feedback was priceless.
Our first day, we covered a lot of mechanics behind the arrangements and focused on smaller centerpieces and personal items like corsages, flower crowns and boutonnieres. The second day, we stepped up the game and did bigger arrangements in urns. Then our third day, we had Kelly from PetalsbytheShore come show us how she makes her bridesmaid bouquets and then we all had the opportunity to whip up our own! It always amazes me how we were all given the SAME floral ingredients but everyones work was so unique and different and off course, BEAUTIFUL.
We also had Jen from JensPhotodiary come by to help us capture our work through a professional lense rather than my silly iphone camera :)
As the weekend ended, I was sad to leave but excited for another fun filled, intense sessions next week!
See you next week floral lovers!
